Earnhardt to run for Waltrip at MIS:Kerry Earnhardt, who won the June ARCA race at Michigan, will return to MIS this month for the NAPAonline.com 250 NASCAR BGN race. Earnhardt, son of the late Dale Earnhardt and half brother to second-year Winston Cup star Dale Earnhardt Jr., is scheduled to qualify the #99 Aaron Rents Chevrolet for Michael Waltrip Racing at MIS. Kerry Earnhardt has made two previous Busch starts in the Aaron Rents car, finishing 20th after starting 30th at Kentucky Speedway in June and finishing 24th after starting 31st at Pikes Peak in late July. “One of my goals is racing in Winston Cup again, but I need a little more experience,” Earnhardt said. “I hope to do that by driving for Michael Waltrip’s Busch team.” Last August, Kerry Earnhardt was a part of history at MIS when he qualified for the Pepsi 400 presented by Meijer Winston Cup Series race. It marked the first time since 1960 that a father raced against two of his sons. Kerry Earnhardt finished 43rd in that race after an accident ended his day five laps into the event. Earnhardt Jr., who won the pole at a record 191.149 mph, finished 31st, and his father finished sixth after starting 37th.(MIS PR)(8-9-2001)
