Rick Carelli, who returned from a life-threatening crash in 1999 to win last year’s Kroger 200, will attempt to qualify for only his fifth Craftsman Truck series event of 2001 at Richmond. Carelli has been hunting for a ride at RIR after his team shut down early in the season. He found one at Nashville Speedway last month when he made a deal to drive a truck at RIR for Maurice Petty. Carelli recently has been racing in the ARCA series. “My whole goal is to win a race a year,” said Carelli, who has a truck win in each of the past three seasons. “The memories of last year are pretty awesome. I’d love to put it together again.” Carelli said he is hoping to run a full season next year with Kevin Harvick as his truck owner if Harvick can find sponsorship.(LapbyLap)(9-6-2001)
