AMS testing Monday: #49-ShawnaRobinson and #1-Kenny Wallace had identical fast laps Monday in a test of four NASCAR Winston Cup drivers preparing for the March 10 MBNA America 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Wallace and Robinson each had quick laps around the 1.54-mile quad-oval at 185.418mph. #4-Mike Skinner also tested Wednesday, and injured Steve Park stepped in the #1 Pennzoil car for a few laps. Robinson will try to be the first woman since Janet Guthrie in 1977 to compete in a Cup race at Atlanta. She’s no stranger to Atlanta, though, having won the BGN pole in 1994 and nearly winning the 2000 ARCA race, leading until the final caution with just a handful of laps left. Tickets as low as $25 are still available for the March 8-10 MBNA America 500 weekend. Speed from testing Monday: #1-Kenny Wallace, 185.418 #49-Shawna Robinson, 185.418 #4-Mike Skinner, 184.800 #1-Steve Park, 176.560.(Atlanta Motor Speedway PR)(2-25-2002)
