#5-Ricky Hendrick might use a sling on his right shoulder when he returns to BGN racing later this month. “I have no clue how it will work,” Hendrick said. “The doctors have just told me about it. They are meeting with NASCAR and the engineers. They have designed something that would hold my arm there so if I were to get in a wreck, it would help out.” The arthroscopic surgery on Hendrick’s shoulder following a March 2 accident at Las Vegas was much more intense than expected. Although it was termed as a dislocated shoulder, the shoulder popped forward instead of a more traditional rotational dislocation. Hendrick would like to come back for the April 20 race at Talladega, but he might have to wait until the following week at California to make his return. Ron Hornaday is driving the Hendricks Motorsports car until then. When he does return, Hendrick will find rib supports have been added to his seat.(Daytona Beach News Journal)(4-3-2002)
