Norris said for the past few months that Eury Jr. has been the person on the team with whom Earnhardt Jr. communicates about how the car is performing. Eury Sr.’s role is more of an “overseer,” making sure the organization runs smoothly. Tony Jr. is the son of Tony Sr., a veteran crew chief who has been something of a father figure for Earnhardt at the track. The Earnhardt-Eury roots go deep.
