Mears wins pole at Chicago:

#19-Casey Mears won the pole for Saturday’s Tropicana Twister 300 at Chicagoland Speedway with a lap of 181.757mph, his first Busch pole in 38 starts. He also has two poles and one win in ARCA this season. “They gave me a brand-new car, and it’s awesome,” said Mears, who drives the No. 41 Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing in Winston Cup. “These guys have been working their butts off and they’ve had a lot of trouble this year with drivers and sponsors. The reason why I’m doing this is to help over in the Cup side and it really is. I really want to thank Felix (Sabates) and Chip (Ganassi, his car owners) for letting me do this.” #21-Johnny Sauter was 2nd, followed by #25-Bobby Hamilton Jr., #31-Dave Blaney and #99-Michael Waltrip fifth. Series points leader #10-Scott Riggs will start 13th.(ThatsRacin.com)
