NASCAR Chief Operating Officer George Pyne told the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Tuesday that the sport has room to grow in the U.S. but said he also foresees international opportunities. “Obviously we believe we still have a lot of room to grow here in the domestic market, but we also believe that our sport resonates well abroad,” Pyne said. “We are seeing great feedback and interest in our international broadcasts. We are reviewing the opportunities for expanding our international business.” After the speech, Pyne also told USA Today that NASCAR will launch a “Drive for Diversity” to provide “opportunities in racing’s grass-roots levels” for minorities. “We want to represent America, and we’re committed to a number of different programs that will help make NASCAR representative of America.”( Winston Cup Daily Newsletter )(10-23-2003)
