Joey Clanton, a Busch Series rookie last year who split with his team in midseason, said he’s “pretty close” to announcing a deal to drive a Chevy in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series. Clanton, a Georgia Tech grad and former ASA champion, said he wants to find a team that will allow him to use his racing experience and engineering training to help tune the truck for each race. “I’m looking for a situation where I have more say-so in what’s going on,” Clanton said, adding that he’s also looking for an opportunity to run some Busch Series races.(AJC)(1-8-2004)
