Jay Robinson Racing has hired Mark Green, who will drive the #39 Ford at California and possibly more races this year. Green, who has 173 career Busch Series starts, will replace Andy Ponstein at least for one race and also work full time in the shop. “I’ve been given a good opportunity from Jay,” said Green. “He has his sponsorship situation resolved, and they can start getting better stuff. He can make his program better; and that’s what we’re going to attempt to do.” Robinson has hired Green to work full time for the team. Green could drive the #49 car if Derrike Cope gets higher than 35th in Nextel Cup points, making him ineligible for a provisional. Cope would then move to a third JRR car in the #28, which could also be driven by Green.(NASCAR Scene via BGNRacing.com)(4-30-2004)
However that rule was changed when Kenny Wallace missed the Rockingham race cause of the top 35 rules nnd it was changed to the top 25.(5-8-2004)
