Brian Vickers captured the Bud Pole today for Sunday’s New England 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway for his first top-spot of the season. His time of 29.225 sec (130.327 mph) was good enough to knock Kasey Kahne from the pole and give Vickers his 3rd career Bud Pole Award.
We’ve now had 12 different pole winners this season….same as last year.
Kasey Kahne (2nd) has his best starting spot since he had the pole at Richmond in May.
Rusty Wallace (6th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 6th at Texas in April.
Kyle Busch (7th) has his best qualifying position since he timed in 6th at Lowes in May.
Ricky Rudd (14th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 6th at Richmond in May.
Jeff Green (15th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 14th at Martinsville in April.
Mike Garvey (33rd) has his career-best starting spot this week. His previous best was 34th at Martinsville in April.
Ted Christopher (38th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 33rd at Watkins Glen in August of 1999! (only 3 starts) This will be only the second start for the #27 car of Kirk Shelmerdine….Tom Hubert put it in the field at Infineon last month.
Morgan Shepherd (39th) has his best starting spot since he qualified 38th at California in May of 2004
