Matt Kenseth nabbed his second Bud Pole of the season (and third of his Cup career) today at Kansas Speedway for tomorrow’s Banquet 400 with a time of 29.858 (180.856 mph) as the top-5 all bettered the previous track record. Kenseth will lead ’em to the green with Elliott Sadler alongside.
Scott Wimmer (4th) has his career-best starting spot this weekend. His previous best was 11th twice….both at Pocono this season.
Kevin Lepage (6th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 5th at Lowe’s in October of 2003.
Denny Hamlin (7th) will make his first Cup start this weekend….but it’ll be in a backup car as he crashed on his second lap.
Jeff Green (12th) has his best starting spot since he started 6th at Bristol in April.
Brandon Ash (18th) makes his second Cup start this weekend. His previous race was at Infineon in June of 2004….starting 37th and finishing 41st.
P. J. Jones (27th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 14th at Watkins Glen in August of 2002!
