Some Nextel Cup teams are lining up to test at Memphis Motorsports Park. This month in Memphis: the #9 car of Evernham Motorsports on Tuesday, July 31. While NASCAR’s current testing policy does not allow Busch and Truck series teams to test in Memphis, there is no limit on Cup team testing at this ¾-mile stand-alone track, which resembles three important “Chase” stops: Richmond – the final race to make the final 12 on Sept. 8 – plus New Hampshire (Sept. 16) and Phoenix (Nov. 11), both pivotal tracks inside the final 10 “Chase” races. Chase Miller, who is currently piloting Evernham’s #9 entry in the Busch Series, will test the team’s Cup Series “Car of Tomorrow” – the #9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge – for Kasey Kahne in Memphis. Teams with tentative test dates for August in Memphis include #96-Hall of Fame Racing (Aug. 13), #2/#12-Penske Racing (Aug. 21) and #00/#44/#55-Michael Waltrip Racing (Aug. 28).: Fans can watch testing sessions at the NASCAR oval from Grandstand G at no charge.
