#88-Ricky Rudd said Friday that he is not sure whether he’ll start another Nextel Cup race. Rudd sustained a separated shoulder during a wreck in Sunday’s race at California and will miss the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 on Saturday at Richmond International Raceway. “I don’t have an answer for that, it’s kind of in the doctor’s hands,” Rudd said of racing again. “They consider it a level three separated shoulder. When I heard separated shoulder I thought that sounded better than breaking it. But it’s not necessarily a good thing. There are torn ligaments and damaged ligaments and stretched ligaments. As far as recovering from the injury, it could be next week or it could be five or six weeks. I hope it’s not my last race. I’m not planning on that. We’ll just face it one week at a time. Who knows?” If he recovers within six weeks, he could still compete in about five more races. Ten races remain on the Cup schedule following Richmond. But Rudd considers Richmond his home track, and missing Saturday’s race is painful. “I’m disappointed that this probably would’ve been my last Richmond race because I’m stepping out and retiring next year,” Rudd said.(Daily Press)(9-7-2007)
