Hicks considering NASCAR investment:

Richard Childress said Friday that Tom Hicks [owner of MLB’s Texas Rangers] is “doing due diligence on our sport” and confirmed that he invited Hicks and members of his family to last Sunday’s race at California. “They wanted to look at our sport,” Childress said. “I think it would be great if they wanted to get involved.” Hicks could not be reached for comment. But his son, Tom Hicks Jr., vice president of Hicks Sports Group, said the company is exploring options for possible sponsorship within the sport. “We would like to be opportunistic,” he said, “and would consider making an investment in the sport if we thought a deal created value for the team and us.”(Dallas Morning News)(9-8-2007)
