This weekend as a symbol of appreciation, Michael Waltrip Racing will run a special decal for Dale Jarrett on the #55 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry and the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camry during the Food City 500 weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway that states “Thanks DJ, A Champion, A Legend, A Friend.” This is the beginning of a long celebration of Dale Jarrett’s accomplishments during his illustrious career. Bristol Motor Speedway is his last race until making his final Sprint Cup Series appearance on May 17 in the Sprint All-Star event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. “We are very grateful for everything DJ has done not only for MWR, but for NASCAR,” Waltrip said. “He has been an invaluable resource to Michael Waltrip Racing as we launched three brand new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams in 2007 and he will continue to be. Having the decal on our #55 NAPA AUTO PARTS and #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camrys is a way for us to thank Dale for everything he has done and to tell him that we will miss him. It’s a symbol of our gratitude. We will celebrate his memorable career leading up to the his final ride in the #44 UPS Toyota Camry during the Sprint All-Star race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.” In 1999 the Hickory, N.C.-native become a Sprint Cup Series champion after posting an impressive four wins, 24 top 5s, and 29 top 10s.
