A landscaper working at #44-Dale Jarrett’s Lake Hickory [NC] home was pulled unconscious from the water Friday and was in cardiac arrest when he was rushed to the hospital, authorities said. The man, whom authorities would not name, was mowing the lawn at Jarrett’s waterfront house in Hickory, said Catawba County Emergency Services Director David Weldon, when the riding lawnmower went into the lake. The man was pulled from the water, Weldon said, and had gone into cardiac arrest when emergency rescuers arrived. He was not breathing when he was taken to the hospital, authorities said. The lawn worker’s condition was not available Friday evening.(Charlotte Observer)(5-17-2008) UPDATE: A man mowing a lawn at NASCAR star Dale Jarrett’s Hickory lake house died Friday after he toppled into the water and his lawnmower fell on top of him. The man was mowing the lawn on a riding lawnmower at the home on Forty-sixth Avenue, NE, at about 2:45 p.m. Friday when he ended up in the water and underneath the mower, said Capt. Josh Randolph, with the St. Stephens Fire Department. “His coworkers pulled him out of the water and onto the lawn before we got there,” Randolph said. “I’m not sure how long he was under water.” Randolph said the young man, who worked for a lawn care company, was not breathing and had no pulse.
