Kyle Busch Motorsports is thrilled to announce that 10-year-old Claire Winiarski from Naperville, Ill., was selected the winner of the “Riding Shotgun with Kyle Busch Motorsports” essay contest for Chicagoland Speedway. Winiarski, per a request in her essay, will use the unique opportunity of having her name on Kyle Busch’s Tundra to honor her friend, Varsha Jayasundar, who recently fought off leukemia. Jayasundar’s name and a picture of the two friends together will adorn the area above the passenger side window of the No. 18 Dollar General Tundra for the Fast Five 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, Sept. 16. Both girls will have the opportunity to attend the race compliments of Chicagoland Speedway. Winiarski, a student at Spring Brook Elementary in Naperville, Ill., had her essay selected as the winner among submissions from children ages 5-12 in the Greater Chicago area. The contest called for children to write an essay of 150 words or less that described an experience and/or achievement that occurred within the past 12 months that affected their lives in a positive way. Winiarski’s essay described how, on her 10th birthday, she asked the 16 friends invited to her party to not buy anything for her, but to instead bring a gift for Jayasundar, who at the time was battling leukemia. The entire party lifted Jayasundar’s spirits when attendees made a surprise visit to her home to deliver the gifts.
