Dover Notes-n-Nuggets:


  • • Kurt Busch earned his 24th career victory in his 393rd start.
    • This was Kurt Busch’s third career Chase victory. All eight Dover Chase races were won by drivers competing in the Chase.
    • Kurt Busch claimed his first victory at Dover; his previous best finish was fourth, which he accomplished twice.
    • Kurt Busch led five times for 90 laps, including the final 42.
    • Jimmie Johnson (second) led the most laps at Dover for the sixth consecutive race; he has finished ninth or better in seven of his past eight Dover races.
    • Carl Edwards (third) was penalized for speeding on Lap 246, received the free pass on eighth caution and recovered for a top-five finish; he has been running at the finish in all 15 of his Dover races.
    • Kasey Kahne (fourth) picked up his first top-five finish since Daytona in July; this was his career-best finish at Dover.
    • Matt Kenseth (fifth) earned his eighth top-five finish of 2011 and his 12th top-five finish in 26 races at Dover.
    • A.J. Allmendinger (seventh) recovered from a spin on Lap 6 to tie his career-best finish at Dover.
    • Marcos Ambrose (ninth) had top-10 finishes in both races at Dover in 2011; this was his best finish since his win at Watkins Glen.
    • Jeff Burton (11th) has only one top-ten finish in 2011, but he has now finished 11th three times this year including both races at Dover.
    • Tony Stewart (25th), the winner of the first two Chase races, has finished 21st or worse in his past three races at Dover.
