Ron Hornaday Jr., driver of the #9 AMFM-Energy/Anderson’s Maple Syrup for Joe Denette Motorsports, will once again team up with Chevrolet on Friday morning for their “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign. The effort focuses on promoting and supporting numerous events to build awareness. To kick off the event, Hornaday will give breast cancer survivors the thrill of a ride around the track at Atlanta Motor Speedway in specially-themed Camaro SS pink pace cars. In conjunction with the Advocare 500 on Sunday, Chevrolet will contribute $200 to MSABC for every lap that the Chevrolet pace car leads the field under caution. Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 270 communities to fund the fight. In 11 previous starts at AMS, Hornaday has led 282 laps en route to two wins, three poles, five top-five and six top-10 finishes. Hornaday captured the Good Sam Club 200 victory at AMS last fall in the #33 Kevin Harvick, Inc Armour Chevrolet after qualifying 17th for the 100-lap event. The victory marked Hornaday’s second series win at the track after a triumph in the spring of 2005 World Financial Group 200.(Joe Denette Motorsports PR)(8-28-2012)
