- Softball League Returns: NASCAR race teams prepare for competition in The Race City Resumes.com Totally Racin Softball League. Local Charlotte and Mooresville, NC race teams compete on the softball diamond every Tuesday night at North Mecklenburg Park in Huntersville, NC. The Race City Resumes.com Totally Racin Softball League is heading into its sixth consecutive season of competition with their first games scheduled for Tuesday night May 13 at 6:30pm/et. The Ultra Motorsports Truck Team is looking to defend their 2002 Season Title. The league started in the spring of 1999 with (9) teams, fall 1999 with (7), Spring 2000 with (9), Summer 2001 with (13), Summer 2002 with (16) now Summer 2003 they have (18 and two divisions). The teams are BACE Motorsports, Braun Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing, DEI-Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Hendrick Motorsports, Jasper Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, JR Motorsports, MB2 Motorsports, Race City Resumes, Inc., Robert Yates Engines, Robert Yates Racing #38 & #88, Roush Racing (Winston Cup) Roush Racing (Busch & Truck) Speed Channel, Carolina Camera NASCAR-Media, Ultra Motorsports (Truck) and Champion Tire & Wheel/Sirius Racing. - Gordon fastest in Friday’s testing at Indy UPDATE Rain: Add Robby Gordon’s name to the crowded ring of MBNA Pole contenders for the 87th Indianapolis 500, as he led the final practice before qualifications with a lap of 231.362mph on May 9 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Gordon turned his top lap in the #27 Alpine/Archipelago/Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone in sunny, warm conditions during the last 30 minutes of practice. He became the fifth different driver to lead one of the six practice days leading up to Pole Day. Qualifying for the MBNA Pole starts at 1:00pm/et Saturday [and will be televised on ABC 1:00-300pm/et, then ESPN 5:00-6:00pm/et, then ESPN2 6:00-700pm/et]. Robbie Buhl is the first driver in the qualifying line – determined in a blind draw after practice Friday – in the #24 Purex/Aventis/Dreyer & Reinbold Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone. Gordon’s speed was the fifth fastest of the event, marking him as a strong contender for the pole and the accompanying $100,000 bonus.(IRL Site)

- Not NASCAR but: Trans-Am and sometime NASCAR driver Boris Said, the runner-up in this year’s Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, has been suspended for 45 days by Trans-Am after comparing series operator Paul Gentilozzi and his sons to Saddam Hussein and his sons.(Tampa Tribune)(5-10-2003)
- Riggs Wins at Gateway: #10 Scott Riggs won the Charter Pipeline 250 at Gateway International Speedway on Saturday, his first win of the 2003 season. #37-David Green was 2nd, followed by #57-Jason Keller, #5-Brian Vickers and #25-Bobby Hamilton Jr. David Green takes over the points lead by 5 over #92-Todd Bodine, who finished 11th.
