Race Rundown

Clash Paint schemes
Denny Hamlin pushes teammate Erik Jones to victory in Busch Clash: Denny Hamlin couldn’t win the Busch Clash at Daytona for himself, but he made sure his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate did. For nearly the entire final lap in the third attempt at overtime, Hamlin pushed the mangled Toyota of Erik Jones all the way to finish line in a race that saw only six of 18 cars running at the finish. With the nose of his car caved in and held together with tape, Jones led only the final lap-the 88th of the race and the 13th of overtime-in collecting his first victory in the season-opening NASCAR Cup Series exhibition race.[Read More]

#20-Erik Jones won the Busch Clash At Daytona International Speedway, taking the lead on the final lap. #3-Austin Dillon finished 2nd followed by #14-Bowyer, #42-Larson, and #6-Newman. #11-Hamlin finished 5th, but one lap down. The rest of the top 10: #9-Elliott, #12-Blaney, #22-Logano, and #10-Almirola were all out of the race at the finish.
There were four accidents during the race:
With 10 laps remaining #18-Busch made move for the lead but was blocked by #22-Logano. #2-Keselowski was caught in it. Keselowski and Busch could not continue.
On a restart with 3 laps remaining, as cars took the green, the field bunched up and everyone from 4th place back either got damage or were forced to take action to get out of the way. #19-Truex, Jr and #24-Byron could not continue.
Then, coming to the white flag under the first Overtime attempt, #11-Hamlin appeared to cut a tire down and spun out while leading. He collected a number of other drivers including #10-Almirola, #22-Logano, #48-Johnson, #12-Blaney, #4-Harvick, #48-Johnson, #1-Busch.
Under the second overtime, #9-Elliott got into the back of #42-Larson. They both spun out and #20-Jones suffered some front end damage. Elliott could not continue.
There were 14 lead changes among 11 drivers and 5 cautions for 21 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 134.900mph.
