Late caution propels Brad Keselowski to victory in Coca-Cola 600: A late caution set Brad Keselowski up for victory in NASCAR’s longest race-and set Chase Elliott up for a second straight crushing disappointment. In Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600, which went to overtime for the second time in its history, Keselowski surged ahead after a restart on Lap 404 and beat Jimmie Johnson to the finish line by .293 seconds to win a race that stretched to 607.5 miles, longest in NASCAR history.[Read More]

Paint schemes

#2-Brad Keselowski won the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The win is his 1st of the year, 2nd win at Charlotte and 31st career win.
#9-Elliott finished 2nd followed by #12-Blaney, #18-Busch, #4-Harvick, #19-Truex, Jr., pole winner #1-Busch, #8-Reddick, #95-Bell, and #17-Buescher.
#48-Jimmie Johnson initially finished second but his car failed post-race inspection.  He was disqualified and moved to 40th place.
#9-Elliott was cruising to the win when the caution came out with two laps remaining for a spin by #24-Byron.  Elliott and a few drivers pitted while Keselowski, Johnson, and others stayed out.
On the first attempt at NASCAR Overtime, Keselowski held the lead for the final two laps and Elliott could only get back up to 3rd place.
Stage 1 & 2 were won by #88-Bowman. Stage 3 was won by #22-Logano.
There were 20 lead changes among 11 drivers and 8 cautions for 52 yellow flag laps.
The race was stopped on lap 50 for rain. There was a red flag of just over one hour for track drying.
The average speed of the race was: 135.024mph.

Qualifying Order for the Cola Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Teams participated in a random draw for order based on finish in Wednesday’s race at Darlington. The top 20 finishers at Darlington drew for spots 21-40 and finishers 21-40 drew for the first 20 spots in the order. #78-McLeod will go out first, #19-Truex, Jr. will go out last.
