William Byron is NASCAR Cup’s first double winner with victory at Martinsville:  The first night race for the NASCAR Cup Series at Martinsville Speedway was a cakewalk for Hendrick Motorsports—until a late caution sent the race to overtime, that is. #24-William Byron led 212 of the 403 laps and won the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway. The win is his second win of the year, first at Martinsville Speedway and fourth career win.
#22-Joey Logano finished 2nd followed by #3-Austin Dillon, #12-Ryan Blaney, #1-Ross Chastain, #45-Kurt Busch, #18-Kyle Busch, #10-Aric Almirola, #14-Chase Briscoe, and #9-Chase Elliott.
Pole winner #9-Elliott dominated early in the race, leading 185 laps. He swept the opening stages, winning both.
Elliott lost the lead to Byron following a pitstop at the conclusion of Stage 2.
There were five lead changes among four drivers and four cautions for 36 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 79.244mph.
