Hometown hero #9-Daniel Suarez won The Chilango 150 Xfinity Series race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. It’s his fourth career victory and first since claiming the 2016 series championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Suarez won in a backup car after wrecking during qualifying, leading a race-high 19 laps.
Rookie #54-Taylor Gray finished runner-up, charging hard on the final lap. #21-Austin Hill filled out the podium, with #16-Christian Eckes and #88-Connor Zilisch rounding out the top five.
#18-William Sawalich, #32-Austin Green, #27-Jeb Burton, #25-Harrison Burton and #8-Sammy Smith completed the top 10.
#1-Carson Kvapil earned his first stage victory of the season in Stage 1 while his JR Motorsports teammate #8-Sammy Smith picked up a playoff point in Stage 2.
There were seven lead changes among six drivers and five cautions for 17 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was 69.278 mph.

Race Updates:
Lap 65: #9-Suarez fends off #54-Gray for the race win. #21-Hill, #16-Eckes and #88-Zilisch is the top five. #18-Sawalich, #32-Green, #27-Burton, #25-Burton and #8-Smith completed the top 10.
Lap 63: #20-Jones spins from sixth position. #9-Suarez leads #54-Gray by less than a half second.
Lap 61: #88-Zilisch shoots the middle and gains three spots on the restart. #9-Suarez gets shoved off course in Turn 3 and clears #54-Gray for the race lead.
Lap 58: #2-Love spins to bring out the caution in Turn 15 with seven laps remaining.
Lap 55: #9-Suarez leads #54-Gray by 1.5 seconds with 10 laps remaining. #88-Zilisch has raced to 10th, gaining 16 spots since the restart.

Lap 46: #88-Zilisch jumps the curb in Turn 2 on the restart and spins battling #19-Gibbs and #9-Suarez. Gibbs cut a tire and got into #1-Kvapil through the next corner. #4-Retzlaff and #28-Sieg piled in. Zilisch got back on track and collided with #8-Smith. #00-Creed, #70-Annunziata and #18-Sawalich all had some sort of damage. Thirteen cars were officially listed in the incident.
Lap 41: #44-Poole came to pit road during the stage break with a broken axle.
Lap 40: #8-Smith wins Stage 2, his second stage victory of the season. #54-Gray, #00-Creed, #20-Jones, #16-Eckes, #10-Dye, #26-Thompson, #48-Sanchez, #88-Zilisch and #19-Gibbs earn stage points.
Lap 39: #21-Hill loops around on the final lap of the stage in Turn 4.
Lap 38: Race leaders #88-Zilisch and #19-Gibbs pit, handing the lead to #8-Smith.
Lap 37: #24-Bell blew up entering pit road. #9-Suarez, #2-Love, #41-Mayer, #32-Green, #71-Ellis and others pit. Love was caught speeding on pit road and will have to start Stage 3 at the tail of the field.
Lap 36: #1-Kvapil is the first driver to pit during the second stage for a scheduled stop.
Lap 35: #88-Zilisch and #19-Gibbs have gapped the field, with #24-Bell dropping over eight seconds behind in third. #9-Suarez is 11 seconds behind in fourth.
Lap 32: #1-Kvapil wheel hops on corner entry of Turn 11 and spins around.
Lap 31: #21-Hill locked up the brakes entering Turn 4 and has a flat right-front tire and is trying to get to pit road.
Lap 28: #19-Gibbs passes #9-Suarez to take third position back. #32-Green makes contact with #5-Wright who spun around. #42-Alfredo reports something broke on his car as he loops around before limping to pit road with a flat tire.
Lap 26: #88-Zilisch keeps the lead on the restart. #9-Suarez brakes hard entering Turn 1 and gains two spots, muscling his way to third position.
Lap 22: #35-Rovelo has a broken track bar during the stage break.

Lap 14: #7-Allgaier has a transmission issue, dropping first and second gears. Crew chief Jim Pohlman diagnosed a left-rear axle that broke.
Lap 13: #19-Gibbs, #88-Zilisch and #24-Bell are all battling for the race lead with #8-Smith more than four seconds behind in fourth position. #24-Bell spins exiting the stadium section and drops to 10th position after backing into the barrier.
Lap 9: #88-Zilisch continues progressing, passing #24-Bell for the runner-up spot. #9-Suarez and #16-Eckes have cracked the top 20 after starting at the rear of the field.
Lap 7: #25-Burton spins between Turns 13 and 14 exiting the stadium section of the course.
Lap 6: #19-Gibbs holds on to the race lead on the restart ahead of #24-Bell. #88-Zilisch has raced to third position with #2-Love cracking the top five. #51-Clements pits for an issue with the transmission, losing third gear.
Lap 3: Caution is out for #41-Mayer wheel hopping entering Turn 11 — the stadium section — while battling #2-Love and slams into the wall.
Lap 2: #88-Zilisch locks up the brakes in Turn 1 and contact from #19-Gibbs sends Zilisch into the grass in Turn 3. Zilisch drops to fifth position.
Lap 1: #19-Gibbs takes the lead through Turns 2 and 3 on the opening lap as cars battle three- and four-wide.
Lap 1: #70-Annunziata spins through Turn 15 coming to the initial green flag.

Pit-Stall Selections

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ return to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, #88-Connor Zilisch won the pole at 94.314 mph. It’s his fourth pole of the 2025 season, and his third in as many starts on road courses of his young career.
Cup Series regular #19-Ty Gibbs had the second best time at 94.209 mph, one-tenth of a second behind Zilisch. #24-Christopher Bell will start third (93.725 mph), with #1-Carson Kvapil (93.572 mph) and #8-Sammy Smith (93.453 mph) rounding out the top five.
Four-time road course winner #41-Sam Mayer will start from sixth position. #21-Austin Hill, #54-Taylor Gray, #48-Nick Sanchez and #2-Jesse Love complete the top 10.
All 39 cars entered will race, though JR Motorsports had to unload the backup car for #9-Daniel Suarez who crashed during qualifying. Suarez made the race via an International provisional, but JRM won’t receive owner points or prize money. Young’s Motorsports is repairing its primary chassis for #42-Anthony Alfredo after it lost brakes in practice.

Notes: Due to overnight rain, some teams began the session on wet-weather tires while other teams elected to wait until the track began to dry before making time. Early in the session, #21-Hill wheel-hopped entering Turn 4 and looped around. #42-Alfredo lost brakes entering Turn 4 and slammed into the barrier 15 minutes into the session. #5-Kris Wright and #71-Ryan Ellis both slipped off course in the esses. #24-Bell wheel-hopped entering Turn 4 late in the session and continued on. #26-Dean Thompson misjudged the braking in Turn 4 and lopped around. #2-Love went off course in Turn 11 entering the stadium section. #25-Harruson Burton went off track in Turn 4 in the final minutes of the session.

  • This weekend will mark the fifth running of a NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez all-time, and the first since the series last competed there in 2008. NASCAR didn’t race at Mexico City between 2009-2024.
  • 6,264 days between races is the second-longest gap all-time, the longest was 7,728 at Rockingham which ended earlier this season.
  • Mexico City is the second of seven road course races this season.
  • NASCAR added an International Provisional at Mexico City, so all 39 cars can race, but the 39th qualifier will not be eligible for prize money, points or Playoff benefits.
  • Mexico City is at an elevation of 7,315 ft, more than 5,300 feet higher than any other NASCAR track.
  • Daniel Suarez, Ruben Rovelo & Andres Perez are the only drivers in the field with experience at Mexico City.
  • Ten of the last 18 road course races were won from pole.
