- Ryan Ellis joins BK Racing for multiple races: BK Racing announced that Ryan Ellis has signed on for multiple races in the #93 Toyota Camry with sponsorship from ScienceLogic. Ellis will make his debut in the #93 ScienceLogic Camry at Richmond International Raceway on April 24, 2016. “Four or five years ago, I met Ron Devine and I told him one day I would drive for him. It seemed very far-fetched at the time, but this year it finally came to fruition,” Ellis said about his deal with Devine’s BK Racing team. It’s an amazing opportunity for me and I’m so happy to bring ScienceLogic with me to the BK Racing program,” Ellis continued. “I’ve gotten to know the ScienceLogic employees and brand a lot in the last year, and really feel like part of their family.”
“Ryan is a driver that we’ve been watching for quite some time as he raced in the Trucks and XFINITY,” said team owner Ron Devine. “We’re proud to bring him to BK Racing this season and welcome ScienceLogic to our family.”
“We see a lot of similarities between ScienceLogic and our driver Ryan Ellis – both in our passion for what we do every day and the speed at which we are advancing and growing in our respective professions. ScienceLogic is proud to continue our participation in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series by sponsoring Ryan Ellis and BK Racing this season,” said Yama Habibzai, Chief Marketing Officer at ScienceLogic.(BK Racing)(3-28-2016)
- Wood Brothers returning to Martinsville as a full-time team: It’s a home game for the Wood Brothers. But the April 3 STP 500 is a home game the Wood Brothers haven’t experienced as a full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team with a single driver since Ken Schrader filled the seat of the vaunted #21 Ford in 2006. We’re talking about Martinsville, the closest to the Wood Brothers’ family home in Stuart, Va. “It’s a huge thing,” says NASCAR Hall of Fame crew chief Leonard Wood, who co-founded NASCAR’s most venerable organization with brother, driver and fellow Hall of Famer Glen Wood. “We look forward to going to Martinsville. We used to run over there and have a lot of fun.” The Wood Brothers last competed at Martinsville in 2011, when Trevor Bayne’s unexpected victory in the season-opening Daytona 500 gave the family-owned team the wherewithal to run more races than originally planned. The Woods’ last trip to the paper-clip-shaped track before Bayne’s 35th-place run was with veteran driver Bill Elliott in 2008. This year, they return to the track with Sunoco Rookie of the Year hopeful Ryan Blaney, a 22-year-old who has never driven a Sprint Cup car at Martinsville, though he does have five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races under his belt there. When Blaney completes his 22nd lap at the .526-mile track on Apr. 3, it will mark 45,000 laps in Cup competition at Martinsville for the Wood Brothers.(NASCAR Wire Service)(3-28-2016)
- Grosjean wants to run NASCAR road course race: Romain Grosjean says that contesting a one-off road course event in NASCAR is still on his radar – but that he would want to do a proper test first. The Frenchman sat in a NASCAR machine at Gene Haas’s factory last year after signing for the American’s F1 team and said at the time that he would not be against trying one out on a track. And although he has ruled out doing an oval race, he says competing in a road course event is something that he is still up for. When asked whether he still had an interest in contesting a NASCAR race, Grosjean told Motorsport.com: “Yes! But I’d do it on a road course. Not on an oval, never. I’d be scared, and it’s too much of a specialty. I’m open to doing some testing [of a Sprint Cup car] on a road course to see how it runs before making my decision. This car is vastly different from an F1 car.”(Motorsport)(3-28-2016)

- Claire Decker attempting CWTS debut at Martinsville: Claire Decker, a 21-year old Criminal Psychology major at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will pilot the Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing #10 Chevrolet Silverado during Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Alpha Energy Solutions 250 at Martinsville Speedway. This will be her first NCWTS attempt, though she brings an impressive resume to the series. Claire has competed in the Super Late Model ARCA Midwest Tour Series and won the “Trickle 99,” a Super Late Model memorial race honoring beloved racer Dick Trickle, also a Wisconsin native. She was also chosen to compete in the Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge. Claire will not be the only Decker on the entry list as her sister Paige will be making her third attempt and her cousin Natalie is also making her first attempt. The NCWTS has become even more competitive in recent months and Claire is prepared to do her best despite having a lower budget than many of her competitors. “I understand I am facing an uphill battle and am looking forward to my first time in a truck,” she said, “of course I want to make this race against a very competitive field but the worst case scenario is that I gain a lot of experience, meet new fans and showcase my sponsors to a larger audience.”(Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing)(3-28-2016)
- Kyle Busch making first CWTS start of the year: Kyle Busch will make his first of four scheduled NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts this season in Saturday’s Alpha Energy Solutions 250 at Martinsville Speedway. It will mark Busch’s first Truck Series start at the .526-mile oval since he produced a runner-up finish in October of 2011. Kyle Busch Motorsports’ owner-driver is also scheduled to be behind the wheel of the #18 Toyota Tundra at Charlotte Motor Speedway May 20, Kentucky Speedway in Sparta July 7 and Bristol Motor Speedway Aug. 17.
