Daniel Hemric claims first NASCAR Truck Series win in Martinsville shootout: During the week before Friday night’s Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200 at Martinsville Speedway, Daniel Hemric practiced his back flip. It was the signature move he had been able to use just once in NASCAR national series competition—when he won the 2021 season finale at Phoenix Raceway to clinch the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. But on Friday, the 34-year-old from Kannapolis, N.C., had a chance to perform the celebratory move once again, after capitalizing on the misfortunes of others—notably series leader Corey Heim—to win the first NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race of his career.(Read More)(3-28-2025)
#19-Daniel Hemric won his first career NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race, The Boys & Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200, at Martinsville Speedway Friday night. The lead was not the place to be in the late stage of the race, but Hemric held on for the final four laps to score the storied grandfather clock trophy. He also took home an additional $50,000 for winning the first race of the Triple Truck Challenge.
#18-Tyler Ankrum was a close second, losing the lead to Hemric following a restart.
#13-Jake Garcia, #38-Chandler Smith, #99-Ben Rhodes, #11-Corey Heim, #77-Andres Perez, #71-Rajah Caruth, #52-Stewart Friesen, and #1-Lawless Alan were the remainder of the top-10.
For the second week in a row, pole-sitter, #11-Heim dominated the race. He swept the opening stages and led a race high 149 of the 200 laps. On lap 167 while battling #45-Kaden Honeycutt for the lead, the two made contact and cut Heim’s left rear tire. Heim spun, made it to pit road for service, but was unable to recover the lost track position.
Honeycutt inherited the lead and was attempting to hold off #98-Ty Majeski on lap 188, but the two got together when Majeski broke loose inside of Honeycutt. Both wrecked out of the lead, giving the position to Ankrum.
There were five lead changes among five drivers and 10 cautions for 69 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 57.364mph.
