#34-Layne Riggs led all but two laps to win the TSport 200 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park Friday night. The win is his fifth of the season, second at Indianapolis, and the 10th truck win of his career spanning 70 starts.
Riggs started from the pole, won the opening stages, and paced the field for 198 of the 200 laps. Had it not been for a slow restart, he would have led all 200.
#7-Connor Mosack finished just over a second behind Riggs in the runner-up position. #88-Ty Majeski was third.
#38-Chandler Smith won last week’s race at North Wilkesboro and locked himself into the 10-man Chase standings during the Indianapolis race. He led two laps following a restart on lap 72 when Riggs appeared to miss a shift. He finished fourth.
#91-Christian Eckes had a rough night with an alternator issue and finished 33rd. He finished second to Riggs in stage 2 before his troubles began. Though he had a poor finish, like Smith, he was able to secure a spot in the Chase.
#17-Gio Ruggiero had a quiet race and finished 13th. His finish locked him in as the fifth driver to advance to the Chase with just two races remaining before the cutoff.
#77-Nick Sanchez, #52-Stewart Friesen, #11-Kaden Honeycutt, #1-Gavan Boschele, #18-Tyler Ankrum, and #62-Michael Christopher, Jr. were the top-10.
There were two lead changes among two drivers and three caution flags for 25 yellow flag laps.
