#11-Denny Hamlin won the FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway. The win is his third win of the year, fourth at Michigan and 63rd career win. His 63 wins ties Kyle Busch for ninth most all time.
#43-Erik Jones finished 2nd followed by #23-Bubba Wallace, #5-Kyle Larson, #77-Carson Hocevar, #7-Daniel Suarez, #22-Joey Logano, #12-Ryan Blaney, #17-Chris Buescher, and #19-Chase Briscoe.
Hamlin won the pole Saturday but had to start the race in the rear after unapproved adjustment. He worked himself back into the top 10 before getting some damage in an accident on lap 83. He suffered only minor damage and continued to work his way through the field. He took the lead with 38 laps remaining and pulled away to win by more than 11 seconds.
There was a 20 minute red flag for track cleanup and SAFER barrier repair on lap 150 following a hard crash between #9-Chase Elliott and #20-Christopher Bell.
Stage 1 was won by #45-Tyler Reddick. Stage 2 was won by #9-Chase Elliott.
The fastest lap bonus a earned by #77-Carson Hocevar.
There were 23 lead changes among 11 drivers and a track record 11 cautions for 54 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 123.935mph.

Lap 198 – Wallace around Hocevar to take third.
Lap 196 – Five to go. Hamlin still checked out with a 10 second lead over second place Jones. Hocevar back to third, Wallace fourth.
Lap 191 – Ten laps remaining. Hamlin’s race to lose at this point. He now leads Hocevar by 8.3 seconds. Wallace back to third, then Jones Suarez Logano Larson Blaney Buescher Briscoe.

Lap 144 – Pit road is open. Leaders back in. Off pit road: Byron Bell Chastain Logano Elliott Hamlin Larson Berry Suarez Jones. A mix of strategies. Everyone ahead of Elliott only took two tires. Teams could possibly stretch it on fuel from here.

Lap 90 – Green again. CAUTION out again for another accident for Keselowski. Heavy contact with the outside wall and he will likely be done for the day. Larson now the leader.
Lap 86 – Pit road is open. Leaders stay out again.
Lap 85 – Under caution it’s now Elliott Larson Wallace Herbst Hocevar Bell Logano Suarez Jones and Smith.
Lap 83 – Green flag out.  Elliott still leads. CAUTION right back out on the restart. Big accident at the front of the pack involving Reddick Hamlin Gibbs Nemechek ADillon and others on the frontstretch.
Lap 80 – Pit road is open. Leaders stay out. It’s Elliott Larson Reddick Wallace Gibbs Nemechek Herbst Hocevar Bell Hamlin the top 10.
Lap 78 – CAUTION for a spin by Allmendinger on the backstretch. Keselowski is the free pass.
Lap 74 – Elliott back to the lead.
Lap 72 – Larson now the leader.
Lap 71 – Back to green. Elliott and Larson out front.
Lap 67 – Pit road is open. Leaders all come back in. Off pit road: Elliott Chastain Larson Wallace Gibbs Reddick Logano Nemechek Bell. Most take two tires. Chastain missed his pit stall.
Lap 65 – CAUTION is out for Keselowski. He thinks he blew a tire. Gibbs had just passed Hocevar for the lead before the caution. Gilliland is the free pass.
Lap 63 – NASCAR announces that the adverse conditions time for today’s race will be 9:00pm/et. (Once the Race leader has crossed the start/finish line after this time has expired, the next lap will be the white flag, followed by the checkered flag, with no overtime.)  This shouldn’t be an issue today.
Lap 59 – Hocevar takes the lead back.
Lap 53 – Wallace takes the lead. Hocevar now second with Gibbs back to third.
Lap 52 – Back to green for the start of the second stage.
Lap 48 – Pit road is open and leaders are in. Off pit road: Gibbs Wallace Hocevar Buescher Reddick Smith Larson Elliott Nemechek Logano.
Lap 46 – CAUTION for the end of stage 1. Reddick is the leader over Gibbs Hocevar Elliott Wallace Smith Larson Buescher Herbst Suarez. Yeley will get the free pass.
Lap 36 – Ten laps remaining in stage 1. Reddick leads Gibbs Hocevar Elliott Wallace Larson Smith Buescher Herbst and Suarez.
Lap 29 – Zilisch officially done for the day.
Lap 26 – Reddick still leads. Gibbs now to second, 1.3 second back. Then Hocevar Elliott and Larson.

Lap 2 – Hocevar leads the first lap.

• 3:02pm/et – Pre-race ceremonies are underway.
• 2:52pm/et – No additional cars to the rear at this time.
• 2:00pm/et – Amazon Prime is now live with pre-race coverage.
• NASCAR reports that Berry and Jones will also go to the rear for unapproved adjustments.
• Add Bell and Cindric to the rear for unapproved adjustments.
• Byron will also drop to the rear.  The team reported a mechanical issue with the charging system.
• As of early Sunday morning, Hamlin is the only driver reported to the rear for today’s race.
• No weather issues expected today. The National Weather Service says mostly sunny, with a high near 84. East wind around 5 mph.

#11-Denny Hamlin won the Busch pole for the FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway with a speed of 195.117mph for his second pole of the year, second at Michigan and 50th of his career.
However, he will have to start at the rear for the race after suffering damage to the underside of his car when a tire went down in practice. The team will make repairs.
