Reigning champion #38-Zane Smith won the NextEra Energy 250, the season-opening race for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, at Daytona International Speedway Friday night.
The win is his second win at Daytona, and the eighth win of his career.
The race was plagued by rain, and despite a red flag period that lasted for over an hour for track drying, the race was called on lap 79 of the scheduled 100.
#15-Tanner Gray scored a career best finish of second. #19-Christian Eckes was third, followed by #9-Colby Howard, #23-Grant Enfinger, #98-Ty Majeski, #16-Tyler Ankrum, #11-Corey Heim, #88-Matt Crafton, and #35-Chase Elliott in the remainder of the top-10.
Rookie, pole-sitter #2-Nick Sanchez finished 26th.
Stage 1 was won by #19-Eckes.
Stage 2 was won by #16-Ankrum.
There were 20 lead changes among nine drivers, seven cautions for 41 yellow flag laps, and three red flag periods for rain.
The average speed of the race was: 115.935 mph.
