#34-Layne Riggs played the fuel mileage game and won the Inaugural Navy 250 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at San Diego Naval Base Coronado. The win is his fourth of the season, and the ninth truck win of his career.
Riggs, who made his last pitstop of the day on lap 27, was cutting it close on fuel and had to endure a red flag period and overtime restart.
His teammate, #38-Chandler Smith, led at the final restart on lap 51 but he and #11-Kaden Honeycutt made contact and Smith spun out of the lead.
#19-Daniel Hemric and #42-Tyler Reif then battled with the two making contact as they fought for the win. With smoke billowing from fender rub on his race truck, Reif held the lead on the last lap. But a trick move from #34-Riggs in his mirror forced Reif to block which caused him to miss the finale chicane. He had to stop to serve an on-track penalty.
Riggs drove off to the win.
