The tree-top oasis was shown off on Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Masters” last year. Now, it looks like the driver of the #88 Chevrolet is getting into the renovation business.

We’ll find out in early 2018 when a special home-improvement series featuring third-generation NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife, Amy, makes its debut on DIY Network. The new DIY Network limited series will follow the couple as they restore a classic but dilapidated home in the historic Old Town district of Key West, transforming it into a contemporary seaside retreat. But to create their idyllic tropical getaway, Dale Jr. and Amy face some of the challenges common to renovating and restoring old homes, including structural issues and antiquated wiring and plumbing.(HGTV)[click to continue](5-9-2017) - Penske’s Final Appeal denied: Team Penske failed Tuesday in its final appeal of penalties issued to Brad Keselowski and his team for having too much skew in the rear suspension following the March 19 race at Phoenix International Raceway. Keselowski, who finished fifth in that race, was docked 35 points while his crew chief Paul Wolfe received a three-race suspension and a $65,000 fine. Wolfe has already served two races of his suspension, and he will miss the race this weekend at Kansas Speedway.
NASCAR final appeals officer Bryan Moss was unavailable Tuesday and was replaced by veteran television executive Roger Werner, who is chairman of the racing sanctioning-body coalition Automobile Competition Committee for the United States that serves as the U.S. representative in meetings with world-wide racing sanctioning body Federation Internationale de l’Automobile. Werner upheld NASCAR’s penalty as the Penske car had more than 0.56 degrees of skew in its rear suspension when measured from one rear wheel to the other. NASCAR’s new rules this year have eliminated all rear skew, and teams are given a tolerance for what NASCAR would consider the amount of movement that could occur naturally during the race and not be an egregious competition advantage. Wolfe served two races of his suspension by missing the race at Auto Club Speedway in California and the race Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. The points already had been docked from Keselowski’s total (but would have been reinstated if the appeal was successful). He remains in third, seven points behind second-place Martin Truex Jr. and 14 ahead of Chase Elliott.(ESPN)(5-9-2017) - TEAM PENSKE STATEMENT ON FINAL APPEAL “We are disappointed in the outcome of today’s final appeal hearing. While we appreciate the process that NASCAR and the National Motorsports Appeals Panel has put in place to resolve issues like this, we felt like the penalties received following the March event at Phoenix were unjust. Brian Wilson will once again serve as Brad Keselowski’s crew chief this weekend at Kansas Speedway. We’re happy to finally have this behind us as the #2 team focuses its efforts on another Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship.”(Team Penske)(5-9-2017)

- Fanatics To Change NASCAR Trackside Superstore Model: Fanatics is looking at changing its NASCAR trackside superstore model to a more tailored approach where it will not only utilize the large superstore tent at every track, according to sources. Fanatics in August 2015 launched the 60,000-square-foot trackside superstore model as part of a 10-year deal with NASCAR, which previously utilized haulers to sell merchandise. A key focus for Fanatics is getting more merchandise sold inside the actual track venue itself, as opposed to only having one large tent outside where fans can purchase merch.(Sports Business Daily)[click to continue](5-9-2017)
- Kansas Goodyear Tire Notes: Multi-zone Right-side and New Left-side Enhance Drivers’ Grip on Kansas: When Goodyear Racing introduced its multi-zone tread tire at Atlanta back in 2013, it did so to improve racing by protecting the inboard portion of the tread that sees the most heat and takes the most abuse, while adding grip with a “softer” compound on the outboard portion of the tread. This has never been more important, as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is running its lower downforce package in 2017. Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams will run a completely different tire set-up than those in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Kansas this week . . . this is the first time Cup teams have run either of these two tire codes at Kansas, though they did run this left-side code at Charlotte last season (Goodyear)[click to continue](5-9-2017)
