Nick Sanchez takes Chevrolet to milestone 100th NASCAR win at Daytona International Speedway: As Nick Sanchez took his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory in the series’ season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway, he also became a pivotal part in Chevrolet’s history at the famed Florida superspeedway. #2-Nick Sanchez was close many times in 2023 but failed to win a race. He kicked off the 2024 season with his first career win in the Fresh From Florida 250 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The race was plagued with 12 caution flags spanning the scheduled 100-laps. It was extended into overtime due to a wreck and ended under yellow after a 12-truck wreck broke out on the backstretch. The wreck happened behind Sanchez as he drove off to capture the win.
#11-Corey Heim finished second. #71-Rajah Caruth was credited with the third position. The last lap accident appeared to ignite with contact between Caruth and the #91-Jack Wood truck. As trucks began collecting, #17-Taylor Gray’s Toyota flipped before landing on its tires. All drivers involved climbed from their trucks.
#32-Bret Holmes finished fourth. #76-Spencer Boyd, in the debut of Freedom Racing, finished fifth. #75-Stefan Parsons, #88-Matt Crafton, #56-Timmy Hill, #28-Bryan Dauzat, and #19-Christian Eckes in the top-10.
#45-Johnny Sauter won the opening stage. #18-Tyler Ankrum won stage two. Both were caught up in on-track incidents. Ankrum had the highest showing of the two in 11th. Sauter ended the night 29th.
#98-Ty Majeski started from the pole but had a few miscues throughout the event including a pit road penalty. He finished 15th.
There were 24 lead changes among 12 drivers and a record-tying 12 cautions for 52 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 98.933 mph.

Race Updates:
6:30am/et: NASCAR updated the race results over night with Caruth and Heim positions swapped. Heim now credited with second from scoring loop at time of caution on last lap.
10:25pm/et: #2-Nick Sanchez wins after a scary last lap with a chunk of the field involved. Taylor Gray’s machine flipped and flames erupted. All exited their vehicles under their own power. 71-Caruth, 11-Heim finished second and third.
10:21pm/et: Will go green and head into overtime. Sanchez chooses in the inside with Caruth second in the high lane. Taylor Gray will line up behind Sanchez in third.
10:11pm/et: CAUTION with 6 to go. Ankrum spins after contact. Purdy, Eckes, Hill also get contact.
10:10pm/et: 8 to go. Sanchez to the lead with a push from TayGray. They lead on the bottom over Caruth and LaJoie locked up in the high lane.
10:08pm/et: 9 laps to go for the restart. Sanchez leads TayGray, Wood, Caruth, Ankrum.
10:00pm/et: CAUTION. Thompson, Massey, Breidinger have contact after Thompson got loose.
9:57pm/et: 16 to go at the restart. Sanchez leads LaJoie, Taylor Gray, Purdy, Wood.
9:49pm/et: CAUTION Contact from LaJoie sends Eckes spinning from the high lane. Parsons, Sauter, Thompson collected.
9:46pm/et: 23 to go, back to green. The lead gets shuffled on the restart. Sanchez leads Eckes, Taylor Gray and LaJoie.
9:39pm/et: CAUTION Rhodes has another tire issue. Slows in the pack but loses it and clips Tanner Gray and Breidinger.
9:36pm/et: 30 to go. Reiging champ Rhodes on pitroad for a cut tire after contact from Ankrum. Purdy now leads.

9:22pm/et: CAUTION. Holmes was leading. Currey behind him in line. Breaks lose and spins in front of the field. Currey contact from the line. Sauter now leads and takes a string with him down pitroad under this yellow. Sauter took fuel only.
9:18pm/et: Lap 55/100. 5 rows running 3-wide. Holmes leads Sauter, Currey, TayGray, Wood, LaJoie, Enfinger, Rhodes.
9:16pm/et: Back to green lap 52/100. Sauter leads.

9:04pm/et: Stage 3 is green – lap 45/100. Different leaders with pit strategy coming into play due to the Tanner Gray gets the lead following the restart. Holmes on the low lane, Gray high side.
8:58pm/et: Ankrum leads them down pitroad for a round of stops. He opts for 4 fresh tires. Boyd stopped further down on pitroad to avoid a collision on entry.
8:55pm/et: Red lifted. Trucks back on track under caution. Lap 41/100.
8:44pm/et: Stage 2 ends under yellow. Ankrum gets the win. The Trucks end the stage on pitroad where they’ll park for a rain delay.
